Weather Integration

Plan your field service operations with real-time weather data. See forecasts on your schedule and capture weather conditions during visits for reporting.

Why Weather Matters

Weather directly impacts field service work:

  • Scheduling - Avoid booking outdoor work on rainy days
  • Safety - Protect crews from extreme heat or storms
  • Quality - Some services (lawn care, painting, pool chemicals) need dry conditions
  • Reporting - Track how weather affected job completion

How It Works

Schedule Weather

When you view your schedule, YardPilot shows:

  • Temperature - High temperature for each day (Celsius)
  • Rain probability - Chance of precipitation as a percentage
  • Weather icon - Quick visual indicator (sunny, cloudy, rainy)

Weather is calculated based on:

  1. The average location of visits scheduled that day
  2. Falling back to your company address if no visits are scheduled
  3. Falling back to your first property if company address isn't set

No Setup Required

Addresses are automatically converted to GPS coordinates when you save properties or update your company details. Weather just works!

Visit Weather Capture

When a visit is started, YardPilot automatically records:

  • Temperature at the property location
  • Precipitation (if any)
  • Wind direction and speed
  • General conditions (sunny, cloudy, etc.)

This data is stored with the visit for reporting and analysis.

Data Source

YardPilot uses WeatherAPI.com for weather data:

  • 7-day forecast available on schedule
  • Current conditions captured at visit start
  • Australian coverage with accurate local data
  • Updates every 15 minutes for current conditions

Accuracy Note

Weather forecasts are predictions and may not always be accurate. Use them as a planning guide, not a guarantee. Always check conditions on the day of service for critical decisions.

Pro Tip

Check the schedule weather the day before to proactively contact customers about potential reschedules for weather-sensitive services.
